How to blur faces before sharing a photo

Automatic detection is a useful starting point, but privacy depends on reviewing every visible face and the information surrounding the image.

Review every detected region

Remove incorrect regions and add manual boxes for faces the detector missed. Small, angled, occluded or distant faces are more likely to need manual attention.

Choose a strong effect

A subtle blur can leave a person recognizable. Use a stronger blur or pixelation level and inspect the exported image at full size.

Remove indirect identifiers

Faces are only one privacy signal. Names, badges, licence plates, reflections, location metadata and distinctive backgrounds can still identify someone.
